Account Administration
Trading
To attain the best execution for our clients, trades are placed with various
broker/dealers. PacWest Financial Management Inc. is not a broker/dealer
and does not earn commissions on trades placed on behalf of their clients.
The senior management at PacWest Financial Management Inc. will ensure
services at an attractive price without sacrificing quality. These services
include transaction costs (defined as execution costs and brokerage commissions),
mutual fund fees and others.
Maintenance
PacWest Financial Management Inc. monitors all activities received electronically
from our custodians on a daily basis.
- New accounts are reviewed to ensure the account is titled appropriately,
assets are transferred properly, and cost basis and acquisition dates
are entered if the client has provided us with this information.
- If a death occurs, PacWest Financial Management, Inc. obtains date-of-death
values and updates the acquisition dates, cost basis and account registration.
- If a trust is splitting, we will work with the accountant to ensure
the account is set up and assets are transferred properly.
- Trade confirmations are received electronically and reviewed for accuracy.
Prices are updated, account transactions are reviewed and positions
are reconciled daily.
Cash Flow
Accounts are monitored daily to prevent cash overdrafts. Recurring cash
distributions may be processed by the custodian upon written direction
via check, Automated Clearing House or Fed Wire. PacWest Financial Management,
Inc. calculates income distributions, IRA distributions, and facilitates
the distribution process.
Reporting
Clients receive a quarterly investment update from PacWest Financial Management
Inc. Information on the report includes securities holdings, position
size, cost basis, market value, and estimated annual income. A quarterly
newsletter is also mailed to clients. For taxable accounts, a tax report
is prepared in January/February that includes information on realized
gains and losses as well as dividends and interest income for the previous
tax year. The realized gains and losses information reflects the cost
basis provided by the clients as well as the brokerage firms.
